Extensively refurbished in 2002, the Atrium was officially opened in 1982 and the recipient of the 1984 BOMA Award for Building Excellence. A soaring 9 level atrium provides natural light throughout the building. With gardens trailing from each office level and two waterfalls cascading eight metres, the building provides a uniquely relaxing indoor environment.
The Atrium rises nine storeys and is constructed of reinforced concrete frame and concrete floors. Walls are double clay brick or bronze anodized window frames with fixed pane window glazing.

The Atrium is prominently located on the corner of St Georges Terrace and King Street benefiting from the surrounding financial, legal and retail precincts.
The nine level main lobby opens south onto St Georges Terrace facing the new Brookfield Place precinct that provides a myriad of dining and retail options, and connects through to the Busport, Esplanade Train Station and Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
An eastern entry provides direct access into the 160 Central retail arcade and food court, providing further dining and retail options as well as direct access to Hay Street.
The western entry opens on to the exclusive King Street retail precinct.
